What happens if I have to cancel my holiday?

We recommend that you take out holiday insurance against cancellation. Should you need to cancel your holiday, full details regarding our cancellation policy can be found in our Booking Terms

Can I change the date of my booking?

We will do what we can to help you subject to availability up to 6 weeks prior to the date of your arrival but please advise us as early as possible.

What time can we arrive/depart?

Arrival time is 16:00 onwards and departure is by 10:00 to enable us to prepare The Cart Lodge to the high standards you, our guests, expect. If you are arriving late we can make arrangements to leave a key securely for you to arrive at your leisure. 

How long can we stay for?

Arrival and departure days are Mondays and Fridays. We offer week and short breaks of 3 or 4 nights. Combinations include:

  • Week/Fortnight breaks: Monday to Monday or Friday to Friday
  • Short Break: Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday

Periods of longer than a week can be booked if arriving and departing on a Monday or Friday.

Does the Cart Lodge have a barbeque?

The Cart Lodge has a barbeque available from 1st April /Easter to the 31st October. You will need to supply your own charcoal, fuel and firelighters but if you let us know in advance we can arrange for some to be available for you on arrival and will be charged at the end of your stay.

Do you have internet access?

We intend to provide network connections in the not too distant future but please be aware we are in a rural location and most of the local countryside do not have the fastest connection speeds. It is sufficient for surfing but downloads may be a problem.

Do you provide towels and bed linen?

All towels and linen are provided and included in the cost of your escape. If you stay more than a week, we provide new ones half way through.

Do you accept pets?

Unfortunately not, due to other guest’s allergies (exceptions made for Guide Dogs) 

What else do you provide in The Cart Lodge?

We have supplied a selection of environmental friendly cleaning products for use during your stay: Washing-up Liquid, Washing Power, Toilet / Multi-purpose Cleaner as well as kitchen roll and toilet paper. We provide a small starter set of coffee, tea, milk and sugar, so you can have a drink when you arrive.  Salt and pepper are also provided. We can order a Food Hamper for your arrival if required. Is car parking provided?

Yes, there is an allocated car parking space next to The Cart Lodge.

Do I have to clean The Cart Lodge for the next visitors arriving?

Although The Cart Lodge is thoroughly cleaned before guests arrive, we would ask that you leave the property clean and tidy. If guests are staying with us for longer than one week we would be happy to provide an interim clean of The Cart Lodge if required.

Is there a pub we can walk to?

There is a pub with restaurant in Colne Engaine which is 10 minute walk from The Cart Lodge at Nightingales Farm. Earls Colne which is home to a selection of Pubs and Restaurants is a pleasant 30 minute walk, along peaceful country roads with footpaths nearing Earls Colne 

Is the Cart Lodge on Nightingales Farm on a working farm?

Originally an Arable and Livestock Farm though no longer as working farm we encourage all types of wildlife including Deer, Hares, Owls and other bird life to roam and fly freely
